An Open and Closed Case

If you’d like to open Explorer with no expanded drives or folders, check this out. The only way we’ve found to do this is to place an Explorer shortcut on your desktop. Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties. When Properties opens, click the Shortcut tab. Click in the Target entry box and paste in the following line:

C:WINDOWSEXPLORER.EXE /e,/root,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

Click OK to close the dialog box and save your addition. Now double-click the shortcut, and you’ll get an Explorer view of My Computer–with none of the folders expanded.
